Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation Project or Wangchan Valley Project is located in Wangchan District, Rayong Province, THAILAND. The project has 3,454 Rai ( approximately 553 Hectares) which is organized by PTT Public Company Limited  together with National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) which is affiliated to The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Wangchan Valley Project uses 7 Smart City concept certified by Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) to develop the city as one of the best Smart Cities that provides Innovation Ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

According to PTT vision “Powering Life with Future Energy and Beyond”, our goal is to convert Thailand traditional industry toward National Strategy Thailand 4.0 (New S-Curve), to help improve both economics and quality of life.

In order to create a vibrant city with the most livable and well-being lifestyle, we invest sustainable infrastructure, information technology and facilities with smart technology. Besides, we reserve 60% green area to provide environmental friendly surrounding for our people.

PTT, NSTDA, and partners are willing to assist the enterprises, Start-ups, entrepreneurs including the industrial sectors who are facing with the limitation of resources for Innovation development.

With a concept of Smart Natural Innovation Platform, there are 3 mains development zones as follows;

                1. Education Zone is developed for Education and Learning to strengthen research, create innovation and collaborate for local innovations, comprising of Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) and Wangchan Forest Learning Center.

                2. Innovation Zone is developed with smart infrastructures to support future research and innovation. EECi Headquarter by NSTDA locates in this area as well composed of 4 EECi’s  innovation platform, BIOPOLIS for Biotechnology Platform, ARIPOLIS for Automation, Robotics and Intelligent System Platform, FOOD INNOPOLIS for food industry related technology platform, and SPACE INNOPOLIS for aviation and aerospace technology platform.

                3. Community Zone is the area that is designed for convenience and relaxation to fulfill population needs. It is undeniable that living among nature and comfort help to create and cultivate the innovative spirits. You can explore accommodations, retails, convention center, co-working space, international school etc.

                4. Additionally, there has been a development of infrastructure and utilities area within the city, with consisting of more than 416 rai.Meanwhile, green space in the city dedicates to improve environmental conditions and increasing biodiversity. These green spaces serve as the main leisure areas for urban residents, covering over 608 Rai.

"Wangchan Valley is a sandbox area for innovation experimentation, supporting 12 target industries, including:

1. The first authorization UAV Regulatory Sandbox in the country, providing a prototype testing area for unmanned aerial vehicles without pilots. The project is currently in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and the area offers drone test fields and drone training services for various applications. The Wangchan Valley also has partners in developing innovative environments in all dimensions, such as the Navatnapha Drone Test Field.

2. The NBTC Regulatory Sandbox, provides telecommunication infrastructure and frequency waves for research and development in the area such as 5G.

3. Prototype Autonomous Vehicle Testing Area Service: Currently, the Department of Science Service (DSS) and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) are collaborating to develop an autonomous vehicle testing area service called "A Digital twin area prototype of the urban tested for CAV use case and Promotion (Playground-Digital Twin)." This service aims to enhance the capability of developing technology for future industries.

4. ERC Sandbox Testing Area Service: The ERC Sandbox Testing Area Service is located in Wang Chan Valley and provides a platform for buying and selling electricity generated from renewable energy sources, carbon credits, and Renewable Energy Certificates (REC). This service includes testing processes for Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) to develop market standards and transparency. It also tests smart grid-related innovations, such as increasing flexibility in the power grid to support renewable energy production and new electricity trading business models. In addition, the service tests standards for using or connecting third-party access to the electricity grid and sets rates for relevant services, such as Wheeling Charge. The service also studies new technologies such as Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations and Energy Storage systems.
